After Roy Williams' boneheaded comments, he has to want a little vacation. In a place far far away. (No Star Wars) Think about it. The Cowboys are doing well and here he go poppin his mouth off about something we already could see. Roy is not T.O. and Stank-0 will let my esteemed colleague break down exactly why Roy is not T.O.
Werds:
See it is quite simple. Roy is not a gamebreaking wide out. You get Williams in the huddle and he tell the other guys, "Just block long enough for him to throw me the ball. I got it from there." That is not a Roy Williams type of statement.
He wasn't that type of receiver at Texas, never was. The problem came with the trade. The Cowboys gave up alot to get him and expected alot from him. [Stank-0's note: They took the wrong guy! Stank-0 will scream it from the rooftops til ya'll hear me!]
Roy is not a homerun wide out in the mold of T.O. or Randy Moss. No, he's in the mold of Keyshawn Johnson, a big third-down, move-the-chains-type of guy. Well, normally teams don't give up multiple picks for a third down receiver, but this the Dallas Cowboys we are talkin about, and nothing is "normal" in Dallas during football season. Back to Stank-0.
Stank-0:
Now Stank-0 thinks the Cowboys might have been hoodwinked by his "production" in Detroit. There's a reason for that and his name is Calvin Johnson. That is the superfreak receiver the Cowboys should have gone after. Teams have to and still have to put some help on Calvin's side of the field. That had to have freed up Williams a little bit. He is big (somewhere north of 6'2"), with ridiculous speed and vertical. That's the type homerun hitter the Cowboys desperately needed. That's being to diplomatic, that is the receiver the Cowboys should have dealt for, Calvin Johnson. He's a freak of nature.
Maybe they were blinded. Maybe they were gullible. Whatever the reason, now they have a #2 or #3 receiver that they gave #1 type draft picks for. It's a no-win situation. Stank-0 will hand off to Werds for the final thought.
Werds:
The real problem is that Roy will be endlessly compared to one of the best WRs in NFL history as long as he wears a Cowboys jersey. That's the tragedy. I think he could have played out his career in Detroit as a good player on a bad team. Now he is starting to be labeled a bad player on a good team.

This has nothin to do with Nelly, although, the lyrics are apt to describe the upcoming season for one Tony Romo.
The rumors have been flowing that Romo was gettin tired of the T.O.-influenced distractions. Now, T.O. is in up-state NY, so that removes Romo's biggest problem.
Romo better come out smokin next season. What excuse will he have to fall back on, that Wade was too much of a player's coach? That Yoko Romo's fluctuating weight gain messed him up on the field? That T.O. being in Buffalo in a completely different conference and division was too much for him to have to deal with in Dallas?
Honestly, Tony it's put up or shut up. If the Cowboys playoff futility continues another season, the blame should rest solely on the shoulders of Romo. Not Phillips. Not Jones...well..maybe. Not Simpson. Not Witten. Not Garrett.

The Stankoniforous Files will weigh in on the T.O. situation. Not him being cut, that has been examined and re-examined.
Instead, T.O.'s treatment is a bit unfair. He has never been arrested on cocaine charges. (*We're looking at you, Matt Jones*) He has never been suspended by the NFL for steriod use (*Shawn Merriman*), been suspended by the league. Period.
Yet ESPN especially (*Ed Werder, talkin to you*) has treated T.O. like he is the end of Western civilization. Yes, T.O. wants to win so badly that he can be a uber-@sshole. If Stank-0 is wrong, then post footage of T.O. not talkin in the context of a game. Yet, there are other players who flip out and they are mentioned as examples of how much they want to win. (*Jay Cutler has been known to get in the face of teammates. *) Uh....really?
Yes, the method may be wrong, but the message is spot on. Jeff Garcia did not turn into a proven winner until Philly. McNabb didn't seem to bring his A game to the Super Bowl. Tony Romo seems to revel in the spotlight of being an superstar NFL quarterback, but nothing else. So throwing these QBs under the boss hasn't been exactly wrong.
The locker room problems seem to be a consequence of him calling out player's willingness to bring their game. Or them throwing him the damn ball. (*Keyshawn Johnson, noted author*) On this point, #1 receivers have much in common with T.O. Jerry Rice, Chris Carter, Randy Moss, Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, and Marvin Harrison have all made statements about wanting the ball in their hands. It's like we are baggin on T.O. for the very thing we expect in receivers. If he didn't want the ball we would question his cojones, but he wants the ball so we call him selfish.
T.O. is clearly in the downward slope of his career, he is 35. It is inevitable. He has kept his body in phenomenal condition so he still have miles on him. He may not be #1 material but he can be a capable #2.
Ultimately, the defense dictates where the ball goes. Unfortunately, T.O. doesn't seem to understand what's goin on. The Cowboys may lose out on the playoffs behind this non-sense.

NFL Week 8, the For real? edition
On another note, LDT is starting to round back into shape. He looked good making his cuts. The Bills created turnovers (an INT and some fumble recoveries).
On another note, the Rams are b***hslapping the Cowboys, 34-7 right now. It's the 4th quarter 2 minute warning.
Unsurprisingly, the Bears are in a shootout with the Vikes. There's a TD under review, but Berrian caught a sick out route in the red zone for a TD, 48-41.
The Panthers handled the Saints, 30-7. Saints O don't play D, so expect the opposition to score.
The Ravens stopped the Miami Wildcats, 27-13. That Ravens D is no joke, don't sleep. T Suggs, Stank-0 sees you stuntin with a 55 yd. T.INT.
The undefeated Titans remained so, strangling the Chiefs, 34-10. Poor Chiefs, poor T Gon, too bad you couldn't get dealt. LJ, how about making it to team meeting, playa?

It seems like Warren Sapp is the only analyst being honest. How quickly we forget. Key was dismissed from the Bucs a few seasons ago, which lead to his unceremonious exit from that team to his final team, the Panthers.
Key, if you really were tryin to help T.O, you would tell him, "Terrell, I have been where you are and I don't want to see you go that way. It don't end well, bruh."
Wouldn't that go over better? Possibly, but it's not good for ratings. Key givin T.O. constructive advice would not get people commenting on Sportscenter.com, ESPN.com, watching Sportscenter, etc. etc. This comes down to paper, stacks, fetti, green, whatever you want to call it.
In the end, what high level receiver hasn't complained about a lack of touches? The venerable Jerry Rice overturned a table on MNF because he was decoy for an entire drive. So let's not pretend that it started with T.O.
As for the Cowboys, they are the most entertaining team in the NFL. Star studded with a Steinbrenner-like owner. It compels you to watch, just to see what is gonna happen next. Lots of teams lose their starting QB for a minute, but only the Cowboys' star power could turn that into 24 hours of news coverage.
It's kinda sad. Brad Johnson takes over until Romo comes back, story over. How about talkin about the Titans' D (most physical in the league by the way). That's a story.

In happier news, Roy Williams is now a Cowboy. The particulars of the deal.

This may be the first thing the Lions have done right in a long time. The Boys are trying to sign and get Williams acclimated ASAP.

Have to correct a prior statement
Aug 13th: What will be the toughest division this year?
Stank-0 is thinkin either the AFC North or South and maaaaybe the NFC East.
So you see Stank-0 is on occasion wrong and spectacularly so. The GMen and Cowboys are 2-0, while the Iggles are no slouch at 1-1. Heck even the Redskins have clawed back to 1-1.
While in the AFC South, the Jags are 0-2, Colts are 1-1, the Texans are 0-1, and the Titans are sitting at 2-0. The AFC North? Steelers 2-0, Ravens 1-0, the highly hyped Browns are 0-2 along with the Bungels.
So at this point in the season, the NFC East is lookin to be the toughest division in football again. At this point, can the rest of the season even top week 2?
