In the days approaching the NFL Draft prognosticators have the Good Ole Lions picking ROCKET ARM Stafford from Georgia. In the last few years which Number One QBs have changed the teams that they have ended up on immediately? That answer is very very few.
In looking at the top 5 QBs from last year (QB RATING), Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Chad Pennington, Kurt Warner, and my BOY Phillip Rivers (Go Chargers!!!!) , the only one of these guys that was a number one draft pick was Peyton Manning. In that list Peyton is arguably one of the best to ever play and it took him many years to develop into the talent he is today.
I say all that to say this. When will GM's learn? Franchise QBs are groomed and built within a system. They dont grow on trees, they are not available immediately after college, and they take time to mature, like a fine wine. I will agree last season was weird with Flacco, and Ryan coming out of the gates and doing a very good job. But no one thought at University of Delaware, and Boston College respectively that either guy would start this past season and do what they did.
This post is entitled Universal Mind Control from this glamorous thought that one great QB will make your team great forever. Get over it. There is not a Peyton Manning in this draft. Joe Montana retired a Chief, Steve Young is on ESPN, Elway is coaching / fathering, Randal Cunningham is somewhere, and Warren Moon is probably yelling at someone.
Please look to the real rocks of the draft. Offensive lineman. History has shown us that rock solid lineman drafted in the first round last for 10 or more years and typically produce many Pro Bowls and help to win championships. Primadonna QBs that go number one often end up more like Ryan Leaf and Alex Smith. Great potential and less than effective performances on the field. We need to look more at the Jonathan Ogdens and the Orlando Pace's of the world. If you are going to spend the money in the down economy, dont let the hype fool you into investing into something that may not pay dividends for years to come.
Please think above the song, "You know you like it.... its calling your name"
Be like Pookie in CB4, let the real players convince you, "It keeps calling me...... that Crack just keeps calling me man"

The game kicked off the Saints held the rock for a long time. They just stalled out a 13 play drive and settled for FG. The Bolts D is looking pathetic. They missed Shawn Merriman more than they let on. They can't consistently created pressure without an all out blitz. More later.
UPDATE1: The Saints scored but it was extremely easy. Brees rolled the pocket and hit a completely uncovered receiver. They just missed the PAT. That PAT may become very important later on.
UPDATE2: The Bolts fumbled on the kick off and the Saints recovered. Deuce just ran in a TD. Bolts need to do somethin and quick.
UPDATE3: The Saints scored on a nice double move on Antonio Cromartie. Lance Moore, Stank-0 sees you shinin. It's 23-10, Saints.
UPDATE4: The Bolts have scored on a short dump off to LDT. He looks good, the injured toe seems to healing up for him. He has a nice run and a sick move to get in the hizzie!
UPDATE5: Antonio Gates! That was his drive, a deep jawn and then the TD. 23-17, Saints.
Final 37-30, Saints.
Another surprise, the Miami Wildcats over the Bills, 25-16. Patriots by virtue of their win are tied with MIA for 1st in the AFC East, aka the Lil' Debbie Division.

Those are what you can say about the Buffalo Bills after a 23-14 win over the Bolts. It wasn't so much that the Bills outplayed the Bolts as the Bolts gave the game away.
On another note, LDT is starting to round back into shape. He looked good making his cuts. The Bills created turnovers (an INT and some fumble recoveries).
On another note, the Rams are b***hslapping the Cowboys, 34-7 right now. It's the 4th quarter 2 minute warning.
Unsurprisingly, the Bears are in a shootout with the Vikes. There's a TD under review, but Berrian caught a sick out route in the red zone for a TD, 48-41.
The Panthers handled the Saints, 30-7. Saints O don't play D, so expect the opposition to score.
The Ravens stopped the Miami Wildcats, 27-13. That Ravens D is no joke, don't sleep. T Suggs, Stank-0 sees you stuntin with a 55 yd. T.INT.
The undefeated Titans remained so, strangling the Chiefs, 34-10. Poor Chiefs, poor T Gon, too bad you couldn't get dealt. LJ, how about making it to team meeting, playa?

Normally the Patriots and Bolts give us a good game. This was not one of those times.
The Bolts dominated from the very 1st play from scrimmage (a deep ball from Rivers). Matt Cassel just doesn't have the experience necessary to make this game entertaining. The Pats got punched in the mouf and never recovered. Deltha O'Neal and Ellis Hobbs got abused so much Stank-0 considered calling Protective Services.
Coach Bill, why was that coach all in your grill at the half? Got to tell the underlings not to be all up on you like that in front of the cameras.
Let's hope the Monday nighter is better, but my gut tells me that the GGGGGGGGGGGGGMeeeen are gonna run all over the Browns. Weren't the Browns a pre-season Super Bowl contender?
