A brief aside

JaVale McGee's mom is not impressed by the Wizards - Truth About It.net
I'm watching the Nuggets Wizards game on ESPN. JaVale McGee, a young Wizard player, is the son of Pam McGee. Pam starred at USC with Cheryl Miller in the 80s. What's important here is how much of a shortie Pam is. She's a mother and is still fine. I'm just saying.

Our new head coach

Well, S-dot Jr. you wanted my response, here it is.  Stank-0 agrees that the Chiefs waited to late in the offseason to discard Edwards, however, there aren't many coaches of note to obtain right now.

A brand new coach has its advantages.  He can be imprinted from above, i.e. Pioli can mold him so they work together seamlessly.  That's a good thing.  Pioli has a track record of being a good personnel guy.  The Chiefs are indeed young so Pioli can add pieces as are needed.

As for TGon and LJ... it was time to move LJ when the Chiefs could have gotten somethin of value from him.  He's 29 now so who will be willing to pony up picks for him?  That's a question that Coach Haley will have to answer.  Gonzalez seemed to be hedging his bets about his future, and the Chiefs hold the trump card because he has two years on his deal.  This could backfire because if TGon is so ready to leave that he just plays out those two years, he's a free agent.  Bye bye.

The next major decision is with quarterback.  Keep Croyle, Thigpen, Huard, or nab on in the draft?  The Chiefs have a high pick.

Good move?

I wanted to write about this and see what Stank-0 has to say. The Chiefs have offered Todd Haley the coaching job.

What irks me is that this is an offensive coach. The Chiefs D was anemic so that would be where they need to focus. Scoring points should not be a problem. They have the pieces or even pieces to deal, i.e. TGon and LJ for picks. The team is full of young talent, but the QB situation needs to be resolved and there is an outside chance that Matt Cassel could follow Pioli out to KC.

If Haley is not the man, then who is next on the rolodex? Stank-0 what say you? Stank-0, what about goin after Shanahan?

I think KC's biggest problem was they waited too long to let Edwards go and the fact that there are not many good coaches out there. Gruden? Bleh. Cowher? He likes that analyst money. Shanahan? Kinda iffy. What other big name coach is out there? Or are there any diamonds in the rough to be promoted?

Tell us something we don't know

Stank-0 touched on this before, but David Beckham wants to remain in Europe.

I agree with Stank-0 (shocking isn't it) but a contract is a contract.

Look, let's put a few things out there. No major soccer (football) star comes to the US to play at the peak of his power. That's just FACT like the Wendy's commercial.

True Stank so true. At least AC Milan and Galaxy are gonna talk about Beckham. Here's the problem. The money involved. Unless Milan is willing to kick in to cover a quarter of a billion dollar contract, we got a problem.

I doubt that the entire amount is at stake. I'm sure there are endorsement deals, etc. involved but if he isn't playing Stateside doesn't that change the amount of the contract?

If I'm the Galaxy's GM, I'm not lettin Beckham go without some significant "monetary compensation." That means AC Milan is gonna be coming outta pocket.

Well the debate isn't over....

James stepped up to the challenge and dropped 52, 11, and 10. How does that compare to Kobe's Roger Maris?

I'm at a loss for words. Fitty two, 11 dimes, and 10 boards! Really! The debate ain't over yet.

I guess the question does is a straight 61 > than a triple double? I can't reliably answer that question.

Numbers game

The setting is MSG. The Knickerbockers have a tough road to hoe. Black Mamba dropped 60 + 1 yesterday. Kaing James is on his way.

There are a few things at play here. James and Bryant potentially playing "can you top this" in the Mecca of basketball. Everyone wanting to compare MJ fitty five to Kobe's Roger Maris.

Starting Five is correct this puts the James vs. Bryant debate to bed and tucks it in with milk and cookies, a bed time story, and a sweet dreams, unless James matches KB.

What needs to be highlighted is how undefensive the Knicks are now compared to the KNICKS back in the day. Cheering for an opposing player!? KB did not Wilt Chamberlain nobody, leave the cheer for the Staples Center.

[Shout out to Starting Five]

Super Bowl!

Pittsburgh 27, Arizona 23

This Super Bowl was not as good as XLII.

Some post game thoughts:
  • How clutch was Santonio Holmes? That TD grab was unreal. Unreal. 9 receptions for 131 yards.
  • Fitz has secured his status as a top flight receiver. 2 TDs.
  • Why have two singers sing before the game?
  • There were a lot of calls. This game was kinda sloppy.
  • Do you wonder if Warner isn't that shook up because he already has a ring.
  • Warner, you don't stare down receivers. Throw it away and live to play another day.
  • A man that big should not be that mobile.
Do the Cowboys have 6 rings? Stank-0 doesn't think so. They may have 6 Super Bowl appearances, though.

Nadal vs. Federer, Aussie Open

Isn't Nadal vs Federer like ...Ken & Ryu?  Bird & Magic? Frazier & Ali?  In any case, Nadal beat Federer, again.

He beat him 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-2 coming close to 4 1/2 hours.  What blew Stank-0 away was Federer cryin.  Man, up!

Federer, who fell to Nadal for the third straight time in a Grand Slam
final
after French Open and Wimbledon losses last year, turned in a
routine service game to open the fifth set.

Serena is a monster....no, a monsta! She literally beat Safin in under an hour. Now, "analysts" want to consider her place in the game considering she needs 1 more Grand Slam to tie some other woman. Stank-0 is not up on his tennis game.

Her game with Safin was 6-0, 6-3. That's breezy. That's S dot Williams. Australian Open champion for 2009. When Serena is in her space, get down or lay down!
