This post was prompted by partner-in-crime, M0yo. It actually came about when talking about the Colts.
Stank-0 thinks the NFL needs to restructure...the divisions. The Colts, in Indianapolis, are considered AFC South. It is far past time to make the divisions geographically correct.
AFC North
Baltimore
Pittsburgh
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Can't really say much about this group, but it will get blown up in the Stank-0 restructuring.
AFC South
Indianapolis
Houston
Jacksonville
Nashville
Indy clearly does not belong in this group at all.
AFC West
Kansas City
Denver
San Diego
Oakland
To say that KC is out west is quite a stretch, however, the solution is kinda radical. Stay tuned.
AFC East
Miami
New England
New York (Jets)
Buffalo
Miami is not even remotely close. New England and New York would be the only teams left after the restructuring.
NFC South
New Orleans
Atlanta
Tampa Bay
Carolina
Leave the NASCAR division as is, for now.
NFC North
Chicago
Detroit
Green Bay
Minnesota
Leave the NFC's black and blue division alone as well.
NFC East
Dallas
Washington
Philadelphia
New York
Dallas does not belong here the rest are just fine.
NFC West
Arizona
San Francisco
Seattle
St. Louis
By geograpy StL doesn't belong there, but St. Louis is known as the gateway to the west.
Fantasy idea:
Get 8 more teams (AFC and NFC) and we can finally put the Midwestern teams in "Central," however as M0yo said not in this economy.
AFC North
Baltimore
Pittsburgh
Cincinnati
Cleveland Indianapolis
Stank-0 knows that it makes this division that much tougher but who wouldn't want to watch those games? It also creates a problem, because where does Cleveland go?
AFC South
IndianapolisMiami
Houston
Jacksonville
Nashville
This makes more sense geographically and makes the division title up for grabs more than once in a blue moon.
AFC East
MiamiCleveland
New England
New York (Jets)
Buffalo
This is the problem that Stank-0 was talking about. Cleveland isn't Eastern it's more Midwestern but there is no Central so this is the next best solution besides leaving them in the North. It also removes the only obstacle to the AFC East becoming New England's division to lose for the forseeable future.
NFC East
DallasCarolina
Washington
Philadelphia
New York
At least they are all on the Eastern sea board now. Not sure if helps the quality of competition in the division. It becomes a Philly or NY showdown.
NFC South
New Orleans
Atlanta
Tampa Bay
CarolinaDallas
This at least puts Dallas in the right geographical area. If Atlanta remains on the rise then it's a 3-way fight for the division title.
Super fantasy time:
If the NFL were to expand enough for divisions, then St. Louis, Chicago, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Cleveland would moved to Central.
Aight enough from me. Is Stank-0 to far off with this.
