The end of an era

The man whom made Tampa 2 a ubiquitous zone coverage scheme, has stepped away from football.  Tony Dungy has retired.  This seems so surreal.  Tony Dungy, the man who resurrected the hapless Bucs into Super Bowl champions.  Dungy, the man who taught the offensively proficient Colts to play Super Bowl caliber defense.  Dungy, who made Cover 2 into a Super Bowl caliber defense.  Dungy, the first black coach to win a Super Bowl...is walkin away from the game.

The next question is does he get HOF consideration in light of the other players who retired such as Jonathan Ogden, Warren Sapp, and Michael Strahan.

The next question is will he be coaxed out of retirement a la Cowher?  Dungy doesn't strike Stank-0 as having the same type of ego as Cowher to be coaxed back out of retirement.

Enjoy your journey, Dungy, you earned it.
