Draft season

Filed under: , by: Stankoniforous 0ne

This time Stank-0 is referring to the NBA draft.  This is for M0yo.

The Orangemen have a trio declaring for the NBA

Big East tournament MVP Jonny Flynn, Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris of Syracuse plan to enter their names into the upcoming NBA draft, the university said Thursday.

Flynn indicated that he will not retain an agent, giving him the option to return to school.

What are the odds that JFly does not get confirmation that he will be drafted?  He is one of the top guards in the country right now.  Stank-0 understands he wants option in case he doesn't like what he hears, but...he's a 1st rounder.

The other guards with buzz are Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, and Ty Lawson.  Flynn is on their level.

Hope springs eternal!!!

Opening Day was this week and the Royals are now 2-1. That may not sound like much but believe Stank-0 it's a big deal.

Here's hoping the Royals can be competitive in the AL Central. Let's make Big K a hard ball park for the visiting team!

Shout out to David DeJesus for making Sportscenter with a nice outfield grab.

Man...the Spartans are BALLIN for real.  That's just hard nosed, Midwestern grind-it-out defense.

They held Kansas waaaay under their scoring average and overcame a 13 point 2nd half deficit.  Then Terrence Williams (my dark horse Big East player of the year) got the straitjacket treatment.  AJ Price got his in the Final 4

The Spartans have the luxury of a deep bench.  They just throw bodies at you.  Then they have home court advantage being in Detroit.

As for UNC...well Lawson makes them go.  Pure and simple.  They have a experience of being there before.  They boast the current player of the year (It will be B Griff next count on it!)  Ellington is doing his thug thizzle.

The coaches are even, Roy and Izzo.  Both have been here before.  Stank-0 still thinks this is like Roy's first time because he won the title in 2005 with another guy's players.

So who wins?  Stank-0 can't go with destiny since each have it on their side.  It just feels like Michigan St. has the mojo right now.  Lawson is great but the Spartans will keep throwin bodies at UNC.  This is Izzo's 2nd ring.  Magic will be so pleased.

Modernity vs. nostalgia

Carlos Zambrano stepped into it with his off-the-cuff remarks, but let's really look at it.

"You come into a ballpark like this and you see great things," the Cubs ace told The Associated Press on Saturday before his team's 10-1 exhibition loss at the sparkling ballpark in the Bronx.

"You wish that Chicago'd build a new stadium for the Cubs," he said.

Wrigley Field needs to be replaced? 'Los, how about you don't stress yourself thinking, ok? It only gets you into trouble.

Let's get to it. I'm all for modernizing facilities but a wholesale replacement is unnnecessary. Have a place for the players and *sigh* corporate sponsors, but leave the rest of the stadium alone.

Wrigley Field is one of a few stadiums in baseball, let alone sports, that are must-see. The others are Camden Yards in Baltimore and Fenway Park in Boston. With the new Yankee Stadium, that removes one from the list. The House that Ruth Built is now the House that Guilani Financed.

Let's continue with other sports. For football, you have Soldier Field in Chi, Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and of course the new Cowboy Stadium down in TX. Possibly, the Meadowlands up in NJ/NY.

College football, there's Ohio State and Michigan. Professional basketball, Madison Square Garden, of course. Possibly the Staples Center in LA, but I'm not really sold on it.

For college basketball, you have Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, KS, Rupp Arena in Kentucky, Cameron in Durham and the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill.

Did I miss anyone? I'm sure the other writers will chime in with there suggestions.
